Authorship and Contributorship Policy

Indonesian Journal of Educational Management and Leadership (IJEMAL) recognizes as authors only individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the conception or design of the study, acquisition, analysis or interpretation of data, or development and critical revision of the manuscript.

All listed authors must:

  • have made a substantial and meaningful contribution to the research or manuscript;
  • participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content;
  • approve the final version of the manuscript before submission and publication; and
  • agree to be accountable for the integrity, accuracy, and appropriate conduct of the research and for their respective contributions.

Individuals who have contributed to the research or publication process but do not meet the criteria for authorship should not be listed as authors and should instead be appropriately acknowledged, with their permission where applicable.

The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that:

  • the authorship information submitted to IJEMAL is complete and accurate;
  • all listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria;
  • all authors have reviewed and approved the submitted manuscript;
  • all authors have agreed to the order of authorship; and
  • all authors are aware of and agree to the submission and subsequent publication of the manuscript.

IJEMAL does not permit guest authorship, gift authorship, or honorary authorship. Individuals who have not made a substantial intellectual contribution to the work should not be included in the author list.

Changes in Authorship

Any request to add, remove, or reorder authors after manuscript submission must be supported by a clear and legitimate justification. Such changes require written agreement from all listed authors and all authors proposed to be added or removed, as applicable, and must be approved by the Editor.

Changes in authorship should normally be requested before the manuscript is accepted for publication. The editorial team may request additional documentation or clarification when authorship changes are proposed.

Authorship disputes that cannot be resolved by the authors will not be determined by the journal. Where necessary, the Editor may refer the matter to the relevant institution(s) or research organization(s) for resolution.

Contribution Statements

Authors are encouraged to clearly identify their individual contributions to the manuscript using recognized contributorship categories, such as conceptualization, methodology, investigation, data curation, formal analysis, writing – original draft, writing – review and editing, supervision, and project administration, where applicable.

All authors remain collectively responsible for the integrity of the published work, while individual contributors are accountable for the specific aspects of the research to which they contributed.
