Green Spirituality Approach to Realizing a Smart Sustainable Campus Based on Digital Transformation in Higher Education Institutions in Jambi Province
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Green Spirituality concept and strategies for integrating it into Green Campus policies and practices at higher education institutions in Jambi Province. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed, focusing on three institutions: UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, Universitas Jambi, and Institut Islam Muaro Jambi (INISMA). Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed interactively through the stages of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that Green Spirituality is implemented by integrating Islamic spiritual values with environmental sustainability practices. UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi developed this through the "Green Sutha" program, Universitas Jambi through "Unja Lestari," and INISMA Jambi through its Green Innovation Center and the strengthening of a green literacy-based curriculum. This implementation is realized through greening initiatives, environmental management, ecological education, and the active involvement of the academic community, all grounded in the view of the environment as a trust that must be safeguarded. The study concludes that Green Spirituality serves as a strategic approach to strengthening Green Campus initiatives by linking spiritual, educational, and policy dimensions with ecological action.
