Manajemen Regenerasi Kepemimpinan Berbasis Nilai Keislaman dalam Menjamin Keberlanjutan Lembaga Pendidikan Islam
Abstract
The sustainability of Islamic educational institutions requires a leadership system that is not only capable of performing managerial functions but also able to prepare the next generation of leaders based on Islamic values. This study aims to analyze the management of Islamic value-based leadership regeneration in ensuring the sustainability of Islamic educational institutions at Universitas Ma’arif Lampung (UMALA). This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The research informants consisted of four groups: university leaders, faculty/unit leaders, senior lecturers, and prospective or potential leaders. Data were analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification, while data trustworthiness was established through source and technique triangulation. The interview findings indicate that leadership regeneration management consists of five main aspects. First, leadership regeneration planning is carried out as an effort to prepare prospective leaders before leadership transitions occur. Second, identification and development of prospective leaders consider competence, integrity, experience, responsibility, teamwork, and commitment to the institution. Third, mentoring and delegation of responsibilities are conducted gradually to provide leadership experience and strengthen the readiness of prospective leaders. Fourth, the internalization of Islamic values is manifested through the application of trustworthiness (amanah), responsibility, honesty, deliberation (shura), and exemplary conduct in leadership practices. Fifth, leadership regeneration contributes to institutional sustainability through the transfer of experience, values, organizational culture, vision, and programs to the next generation. This study confirms that Islamic value-based leadership regeneration is not merely a process of replacing office holders but a strategic institutional management process for ensuring leadership continuity while maintaining the identity and sustainability of Islamic educational institutions.
